The Tavern

The Tavern, a place where any and all creeds can come and congregate, share a drink and a story. Built on the foundations of many veteran adventurers, their stories are etched into the very wood. The counters are rich with dents, scratches and marks from all those who came before. Its location is only known by word of mouth and subtle invitations. Drinks, food and lodging are free, so long as you share at least one tale of your conquests. Wall-flowers and the socially recluse will have to pay, sometimes even double at the discretion of the bartender.Though some of the patrons have started to ask about why books have started to appear behind the bartender’s shelves, and why one door behind them seems to be a lot more older than the rest. A forbidden door, no one has ever seen anyone go past it, only stories and folktales have rumored around its existence.✦ Mateus, Ward 6, Plot 33, Mist. ✦

The Tavern & Library is storytelling-focused RP community and FC born with the purpose of facilitating the development of character stories and fun campaigns inside a ever-going Narrative; utilizing the world of XIV as it's canvas. With a dedicated system, we allow for multiple levels of lore compliance or bending to coexist. You may enjoy casual fun in the Tavern, a hole-in-the-wall third place where the only accepted coin for food, drinks and board is stories; of your adventures, past, present or things you have witnessed. Or, you may also get involved with the mysterious Library, a magical, mysterious 'place' full of secrets to be uncovered, guarded by the equally mysterious figure of the Librarian. Deep inside it's winding corridors and halls of impossible geometry, one might find every answer for every question and dream they have; as long as they're willing to pay the price.Narratives exist in the form of "long-term campaigns", the Book-Worlds. Magical books from within the Library that have taken life of their own and manifested the content of their stories into the real world of Etheirys, creating fantastical and dangerous zones where the world you once knew is changed by the genres and story of the Book. Navigating these Book-Worlds and bringing the story to an end is key to restoring peace to the affected areas and returning the Book to the Library.Anyone who's a member of our community can create and narrate their own Book-World, inviting other players to take part of it.But only a few key Book-Worlds hold questions and answers to further advance the grand narrative of The Tavern & Library.

✦Tavern Drink Contest✦
The Tavern is hosting a special event, designed by the ever present bartender Giuseppina. This contest will see the patrons bringing in the ingredients and recipe for any alcoholic drink of their choice! These drinks will be judged by a panel of judges including the Tavern staff and special guest Judge that will rank drinks on a number of criteria. The general premise is that you bring the means and know-how on how to prepare an alcoholic drink of your characters choosing, this drink will be whipped up by our bartender poured for each judge to taste, the winner of the contest will have their drink permanently added to the Tavern drink menu!
(Note: You don't actually need to use in-game drinks or ingredients, roleplay bringing anything you like!)---Rules:
Drinks MUST contain alcohol!
Each entrant gets only one drink to enter in the contest.
Drinks MUST not be lethal to the judges!
Drinks must be mostly liquid, no tar, syrup or solid objects please!
---How the contest works:
Sign up: The contest works rather simply, each entrant can sign up simply by walking into the Tavern on the contest night and asking any staff member to be entered in it! We'll be prompting folks to enter as well, but in the off chance we don't ask you, feel free to send a /tell or even enter through roleplaying!
The drink contest will involve two primary segments!Firstly, the contestant will be called up to give a description, explanation and the name of the drink for the judges and everyone else present! This description can be a sentence or two, a paragraph or as much as you'd like to post explaining the history and meaning of the drink to your character. Consider this portion your defense of why your drink deserves to be on the menu! The character can give a rundown of the ingredients and recipe while our bartender produces enough of it for the judges to taste!Secondly, the judges will each taste the drink. Using their expert palettes to score and rank each drink! They'll give their critiques and initial input in brief statements and write their scores down secretly for each!Deciding the winner: This will happen after each drink has been given a go, and the scores are calculated out. The judges will convene and after doing some number crunching they'll begin announcing the results!---Prizes:Grand Prize: The overall winner with the highest rated drink will have their drink added to the menu for all time, the winner gets to choose the name as well! (Within reason, please no /Gamer Girl bath water/)The Runner up: You'll win a mystery door prize as well, might add the drink to the secret menu too if its good! Most Original Drink: A mystery door prize, chosen by the staff. The WORST Drink: You receive the WORST prize... eternal shame and a scornful gaze from the bartender.---Scoring:
The score for each drink will be taken in privacy by our judges, each metric is judged out of 10 by each judge. The judges scores are combined to form a weighted judgement on each drink! Each drink will have a ceiling of being given 0 - 30 points total! The more points, the better!
Originality:
How original and novel is the drink? You can bring in a straight shot of whiskey but its probably not gonna score well for this! Something with creativity or a storied history might net you more points!
Flavour:
Subject to the tastes of the judges of course, but how well into the night does this drink go? Does it hit you hard and powerfully, or is it subdued and dangerously sweet? If its got something notable taste wise you'll score higher!
Composition/Presentation:
What does the drink look like? A midnight beachside with your lover at your side, or maybe a fresh autumn day with your stepdad? Looks do matter in this contest, and something stylish or pretty will help your score!
